Driving licence fee to increase
Driving Licence charges increase from 1 January 2024
The fee for a Jersey driving licence will increase to £70 for a 10-year licence and to £30 for a 6-month provisional licence from 1 January 2024. The additional amount payable where the applicant requests and receives same-day service increases to £35.
This is the first increase in charge for a driving licence since 2017. The increases are in line with the change in the retail price index over the last 6 years.
Paper applications can still be submitted but the online driving licence service has been expanded and now offers the option to renew a provisional and to apply for a first provisional driving licence.
The online service enables an applicant to provide a selfie as the most convenient option for a photograph though some other documents will still need to be provided to the Parish before the application is processed. These include proof of identity for a first application and the test pass when exchanging a provisional for a full licence.
The online driving licence may now be used to –
- Renew a full licence
- Renew a provisional licence (an application may be refused if the applicant has not attempted a driving test in the last 6 months)
- Remove expired endorsements or suspension details
- Change a photograph
- Replace a licence which is lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed
- Request same day service (only available on a day when the parish hall is open and the application is submitted before 11:30am.)
