Occupation VIPs – Jersey Royal competition
As part of our Liberation 80 – 2025 events, the Parish of St Ouen is delighted that Genuine Jersey are offering a class for our Occupation VIPs as part of the Jersey Royal potato growing competition.
Regrettably, this will be the final year an ‘Occupation VIP’ class is offered so we’re hoping for a bumper crop of entries this year!
An ‘Occupation VIP’ is a person who was either resident in Jersey during the Occupation, evacuated, deported or who served in the forces at that time. Anyone born on or before 9 May 1945 who meets one of these criteria and who wishes to take part should contact the Parish Hall by Friday 24 January 2025 to register to take part.
Jersey Royal potato growing kits will be distributed in early February 2025 and the weigh-in will be at St Ouen Parish Hall in early May. The Parish winner of the heaviest crop and most potatoes in a single bucket will be announced at St Ouen Parish Hall on Friday 16 May 2025 in-front of the Connétables and local media (who take part in their own competition).
All entrants are welcome to take their Jersey Royals home after the weigh-in.
